Shorts Foundry is the software behind Church Shorts. Upload a sermon, and it finds the moments worth sharing, checks every word and every Bible reference against what was actually said, and hands you finished vertical clips to review and approve.
The middle ground nobody serves well
There are two normal options, and most churches fit neither. Hiring someone, even part-time, is a real salary plus the work of managing it. Doing it yourself with a generic AI clipping tool is cheap, but somebody on staff still has to find the right moment, check it against what was actually preached, and post it. And that somebody already has a full plate.
Shorts Foundry closes that gap. It does the finding and the checking. You do a quick review and approve what goes out.
From sermon to finished clip, in five steps
1. Add your sermon.
Upload a video file or paste the link to your church’s YouTube stream. Shorts Foundry brings the recording into your church’s private workspace and confirms that your church has permission to use it before processing begins.
2. Transcribe and map the sermon.
Shorts Foundry creates a full, searchable transcript, then reads the sermon from beginning to end. It maps where each complete teaching begins, develops, and resolves before suggesting any clips.
3. Choose the strongest edit.
Shorts Foundry can build a clip in three different ways:
- Continuous Clip: One uninterrupted moment from the sermon, kept intact.
- Condensed Segment: One teaching tightened by removing repetition or brief detours without changing the speaker’s words, order, or meaning.
- Composite Short: Two or more connected moments from the same teaching joined in their original order to bring the setup and payoff together.
The software compares these approaches and chooses the version that communicates the teaching most clearly on its own.
4. Validate.
Every clip is checked before you see it: against the actual transcript, against real Scripture text for any Bible reference, and against pastoral and privacy rules that send anything uncertain to a person instead of guessing.
5. Edit, approve, and download.
Review each clip with your church’s branding and captions already applied. You can accept the suggestion, adjust the selection, search the transcript for another passage, or build your own clip by hand.
Nothing posts itself, and nothing leaves your workspace until you approve it.
Built to say no, not just yes
Behind every clip is a two-model check, not one. The AI that finds a moment in your sermon never validates its own pick. A second, independent pass does that instead, without seeing the first model’s reasoning, checking it against the actual words of your sermon and against a real, verified copy of Scripture, not an AI’s memory of it. If a Bible reference can’t be confidently verified, it doesn’t show. If something touches a private individual, a minor, or a sensitive pastoral moment, it’s flagged for a person instead of guessed at.
When a clip has a real problem, it gets one honest attempt to fix it. If that doesn’t resolve it, it’s marked for your review, not quietly retried until something happens to pass. Uncertain always defaults to a person, never to hope.
One honest limit, stated plainly: this checks that a clip is faithful to what was actually said. It does not review or certify theology, denominational teaching, or doctrine. That’s still your job, and we think it should stay that way.

- What footage do I need?
One continuous video file of your sermon, from your own recording or stream. Most common formats work. - How long does it take?
It depends on the length of your sermon, but a full service is typically processed well under an hour. - Who owns the clips?
You do. It’s your sermon and your church’s content. Shorts Foundry doesn’t claim any rights to it. - What happens to my video afterward?
Source video and finished clips are deleted on a set schedule. Nothing you upload is used to train any AI model. - How much of this is AI, and how much is a person?
AI finds the clips and runs the first check. A second, independent check runs before you ever see anything. But nothing is finished, downloaded, or posted until a person on your team reviews it and approves it. - Does it post to social media for me?
No, not during the alpha, and that’s by design. You download the finished clip and post it yourself, on your own schedule.
- What if it can’t find a good clip?
That happens less than you’d expect, because we’ve taught Shorts Foundry to think like an editor, not a stopwatch. It isn’t limited to hunting for one clean 30 to 60 second moment. A Composite Short can take the setup and the payoff of a single teaching, even when they’re minutes apart, and join them in their original order, so a strong idea still becomes a clip. If a sermon truly doesn’t have one, we’d rather tell you that than hand you something that cuts off mid-sentence.
You can also build clips yourself, with no video editing software to learn. Search the transcript, select the words you want, and add each segment to your queue, for a short or a long-form cut. No timeline to learn and nothing to install.
- Does checking Scripture references mean you’re checking our theology?
No. We check that what’s on screen matches what was actually said, and that any Bible reference is real. We don’t review or certify doctrine. - How do you make sure the AI doesn’t misquote my pastor or invent something?
